Gas Fitting

Natural gas fireplace fitting maintenance

Natural gas prices have remained the lowest levels over the past decade. The cost of running Natural gas equipment is up to 98% more efficient and about a third of the cost of electric energy or alternate fuel sources.

With natural gas fireplaces, you can enjoy the warmth, and flickering light, instantly, with a flick of a switch or click of a button.  No more buying or chopping wood, and cleaning out the fireplace. Natural gas fireplaces are safe, easy to use, cost efficient and reduce wear and tear on your central heating, while providing the look and feel you expect from traditional fireplaces, Chimney caps are a great investment to keep critters and moisture out.

Gas stoves are great for cooking by providing immediate and precise temperature control, while the wide span of the flame provides consistent heat coverage.  Choosing to go with an electric pilot light ignition will extra savings on your energy bills. When cooking is completed, the cooktops can be turned off instantly. The leftover heat is quickly eliminated thereby, helping to reduce the risks of injury or burns.

Note: Natural gas is colourless and odorless. Mercaptan (a harmless chemical) has been added to it, which gives it a rotten egg or hydrogen sulfide smell. This smell helps with easy detection of a leak. If you smell a natural gas odor, hear the hissing sound of gas escaping or see other signs of a leak: Stop what you’re doing. Do not use your cellphone or landline, don’t smoke, light matches or operate electrical switches or create any other source of ignition. Go outside immediately and call FortisBC’s 24-hour Emergency Line at 1-800-663-9911 or 911.
