  • Cleaning the burners
  • Cleaning the flame sensor
  • Tightening electrical components
  • Testing the fan amperage
  • Velocity testing and temperature rising tests

Is it time for a new furnace?

Furnace heating usually brings in fresh air from the outside for ventilation, creating a healthier environment compared to electrical baseboard installations, which have no ventilation component. These days, 60% of a building’s energy costs are directly related to heating. With an efficient furnace, that percentage can rise to 78-97%. Having an efficient heating system is key to keeping costs low. At Rep-Air and Cooling, we offer upgrades from your current furnace to a high-efficiency model, installations of new furnaces and on higher-end models, variable speed motors.

How does a furnace heat your home/building?

A furnace creates energy and circulates throughout different parts of the building. There are two different types:

Electric Furnaces: They are often more expensive to operate because they lose heat being transferred through the duct system. These require less maintenance, are fairly dependable but expand a great amount of energy making them far less cost-efficient. The Limit controller prevents the furnace from overheating and may shut off the furnace if it needs to be cleaned or fixed. Ensuring that no further damage is done.

Gas Furnaces: Natural gas is the number-one home heating choice in Canada. They are known for their cleanliness and cost-efficiency. Natural Gas produces 1,000 British thermal units (Btu’s) of heat per cubic foot burned. Gas furnaces do require routine maintenance (usually every 2 years) which helps to extend the life of the equipment.

Heat Pumps

We look forward to helping you when:

  • There are loud noises coming from the roof unit
  • There is a burning smell coming from any of your units
  • Your air quality is bad
  • Your system is not cooling or heating

A heat pump is an air conditioning system that can also provide you with heating, using much less energy to relocate the heat than it would create it. A heat pump removes heat from the cold air outdoors and relocates it within your home/building.

It has a valve that reverses 4 ways, creating a way for the unit to switch from a heating mode to cooling. When it is warm outside, it reverses directions and extracts the heat from the home/building.

Our regular maintenance services include washing the condensers of outdoor units, cleaning of indoor coils, component inspections, and filter replacement every 3 months. We also offer the replacement of old thermostats with a programmable or smart technology thermostat, which makes it easy to control the temperature of your home and helps you save money and energy. When your unit is properly maintained it will last you 10-15 years on average. Space heating and cooling account for almost half of a home’s energy use, while water heating accounts for 18%, making these some of the largest energy expenses in any home.
