Is it time for a new furnace?

Furnace heating usually brings in fresh air from the outside for ventilation, creating a healthier environment compared to electrical baseboard installations, which have no ventilation component. These days, 60% of a building’s energy costs are directly related to heating. With an inefficient furnace, that percentage can rise to 78-97%. Having an efficient heating system is key to keeping costs low. At Rep-Air and Cooling, we offer upgrades from your current furnace to a high-efficiency model, installations of new furnaces and on higher-end models, variable speed motors.

How does a furnace heat your home/building?

A furnace creates energy and circulates throughout different parts of the building. There are two different types:

Electric Furnaces: They are often more expensive to operate because they lose heat being transferred through the duct system. These require less maintenance, are fairly dependable but expand a great amount of energy making them far less cost-efficient. The Limit controller prevents the furnace from overheating and may shut off the furnace if it needs to be cleaned or fixed. Ensuring that no further damage is done.

Gas Furnaces: Natural gas is the number-one home heating choice in Canada. They are known for their cleanliness and cost-efficiency. Natural Gas produces 1,000 British thermal units (Btu’s) of heat per cubic foot burned. Gas furnaces do require routine maintenance (usually every 2 years) which helps to extend the life of the equipment.
